We have made our website as easy and user-friendly as possible to order glasses but even so we realise there may be areas where some further information may assist you so we have put together this information as Frequently Asked Questions in the following sections.

Frames

Yes all the frames displayed are in stock and available. However, at times some frames may be out of stock, if this is the case we will inform you of an alternative frame or waiting time.
You may find that your frame needs some adjustment. This can be done by yourself or your local optician in most cases at no extra cost. This is often an adjustment of the arm length and bend.

Our frame measurements  are displayed with each frame. These usually consist of 3 measurements, for example 54-17-140, which are:

  • the Lens Diameter (in our example 54 mm)
  • the Distance Between the Lenses (in our example 17 mm)
  • the Length of the Side that goes over your ear (in our example 140 mm)
  • we suggest you check the measurements of your current frame and order a frame where:
  • the Distance Between the Lenses value is the same as, or up to 2 mm more, than your current frame
  • the Length of the side is the same as or up to 5 mm greater or less than your current frame
Contact us immediately – we suggest phoning us too if your order was placed during our office hours. Your order may be in process within minutes from the time you complete the payment for your order.

Unfortunately, we simply cannot refund for any prescription orders made, if this was the selected product choice you had ordered. Frame only orders can however be refunded, if the conditions in our Return Policy are met. If an error has been made on our behalf we will refund the full amount.

However, wherever possible we will try and find a resolution to your query. Please contact us as soon as possible. 

We do not offer a try before you buy service. We are confident that with our range of styles you’ll readily find glasses you like. However we offer a comprehensive ‘no-quibble money back guarantee’ so if for any reason you are not happy with your purchase just return the glasses to us within 7 days of receipt and we’ll make a full refund.

Yes! If you like a particular frame but would want to have the lens fitted elsewhere or your local optician. Choose Frame Only - (Demo Lenses) whilst in the use section of our lens customisation process. 
Yes! Every frame we offer can be made into a sunwear by applying a Tint, Photochromic (Transitions) or Polarised Coating, You will be prompted to choose this when you customise your frame under the 'Transitions, Tints and Polarised' section. 

Lenses

We provide lightweight CR39 plastic lenses. Our quality lenses come in various refractive indexes. See our Lenses and Coating page for more information.



When selecting your lens choice, be sure to check if your prescription power is within the recommendation. The lenses are selected to give you the best value lenses appropriate to your Prescription

We generally accept orders for Prescriptions between +/- 8.00 Dioptres and Cylinder power between +/- 2.00 .

However, if your prescription falls out of this range, please contact us as our laboratory will be able to cater for your order, however this may be subject to a surcharge depending on the complexity of your order.

Yes! These are also known as Transitions or Photochromic lenses. These turn dark in direct sunlight and clear when indoors. These are available in Grey or Brown and can be selected during the customisation process.

Prescription

Your Eye Examination/Glasses Prescription differs from your Contact Lens Prescription as spectacle lenses and contact lenses correct your vision in a different way. Be sure to visit Lens123 for all your contact lens requirements.
PD (Pupillary Distance) is the distance between the centres of your eyes measured in millimetres (mm) when you are looking straight ahead into the distance. This measurement helps in the manufacture of your glasses. If your Optician has given a PD Value on your Prescription document you should select that value when ordering your glasses. If you have not been given your PD value, a standard value of 62mm can be used for most prescriptions. The standard value has been determined from a survey of measurements from thousands of people.

Your spectacle prescription is a series of numbers that describe the lenses you require to correct your vision. 
The prescription will generally consist of the following:

SPH or Sphere refers to the amount of spherical error for your eyes, measured in quarters and proceeded by a (+) or (-).
CYL or Cylinder describes astigmatism, a refractive error that causes distorted and blurred vision, measured in quarters and proceeded by a (+) or (-).
AXIS indicates the orientation of astigmatism, measured in degrees 1 to 180.
ADD or NV meaning Near Vision is used for multifocal or reading correction, measured in quarters. This power for bifocal or progressive (varifocal) lenses enlarges immediate vision and is therefore always indicated by a positive sign (+).
OD refers to the right eye.
OS refers to the left eye.
PD or Pupillary Distance refers to the distance in millimeters between the center of one pupil to the center of the other. Click here to learn how to measure your PD yourself.

Unfortunately not.

Contact lens prescriptions and spectacle prescriptions can differ and using them interchangeably could result in problems with your glasses and unnecessary symptoms.

Orders

You just need your Eye Examination / Glasses Prescription document which is less than 2 years old.

Delivery

Yes! We provide a High Priority Service - which is ideal for those that are in need of their glasses urgently.

However, please be advised of the expected delivery times.
All High Priority Orders are dispatched with Next Day Delivery Service.

This would depend on the complexity of your order and prescription. 
Non-prescription and Standard Single Vision orders can be dispatched within 7 days. 

Complex Prescriptions (Including Bifocal, Varifocal, Rimless, Polarised or additional tints) can take 14-28 days to receive. However, we do in most cases dispatch earlier than this.

Returns

If you are unhappy with your glasses we would like you to let us to know why so that we can try and resolve the problem for you.

Simply contact us within 14 days and we’ll arrange for you to return them to us for a refund or replacement if you’d prefer.
